Conversations with Miranda

Me: I love you.
Miranda: Why?
Me: Because you're my little girl.
Miranda: Why?
Me: I don't know. I guess God gave you to me. I'm glad of that.
Miranda: Who gave you to me?
Me: God.
Miranda: I should write a thank you.

Miranda: What will Nanna and Grandpop be called when I'm a grownup?
Me: The same as now.
Miranda: No...
Me: Yes, they will. They'll still be Nanna and Grandpop.
Miranda: No, I think I will call them Alan and Lyn.

Me (in a bit of a cuddle session while lavishing praise): You're cute and funny and smart.
Miranda: Why am I smart?
Me: I don't know. Just lucky I guess.

(I later read an article that noted that intelligent mothers tend to produce intelligent children; now if she asks, I can answer, "Because I'm smart")

Miranda (crying): Zoë pushed me!
Me: What did you do to Zoë?
Miranda: Nothing!
Me: You were just standing around minding your own business, and Zoë came and pushed you?
Miranda: Well, I was moving closer to her.
Me: What do you mean?
Miranda: She was there and I kept going closer.
Me: Did she tell you to go away?
Miranda: Yes, but I didn't.
Me: And she pushed you when you got too close?
Miranda: Yes.
Me: Well, I don't approve of Zo&eum; pushing you, but when people tell you to leave them alone, you should listen.
Miranda: But Zo&eum; pushed me!

Kinder

Today was the first day back at kinder, and Miranda was thrilled. She had a whole list of things to tell them that she did over the holidays. I don't know how many she actually got to share with them...
