Peefeeum
Miranda loves perfume. I sell perfumes (and other things) on eBay, so there's a lot of it around (well, gosh, I have to have some for myself, don't I?). She always gets extremely excited when a new shipment arrives and wants to know if it's "to sell" or "to keep" and if it's "to keep" she wants to wear it.
Some perfumes, of course, I won't let her wear because they're just not appropriate for a little girl. Opium (Yves Saint Laurent), for example. Very smoky, exotic, spiced, etc. Not at all good on a four year old... There are a number of perfumes I'd never let her wear.
Today she announced to me, "I want to have some peefeume." I said, "Okay. What would you like?" and she said, "Let's go look in my room." (It's my room, and I told her that, but I knew what she meant.)
She loved the look of the bottle of Curious (Britney Spears), because it's an extremely cool bottle, very shiny and girly and pink and turquoise colored. She said, "Ooooh, what's that?" and I told her and she said, "Is that appropriate for little girls?"
I told her it was and she happily had some put on. Now she's watching tv again, happy in the knowledge that she smells nice with her new peefeume (she'll probably wear that one more than I will; it really is quite nice, but not really my style).
Babies
One of the other kinder mums that I'm friendly with is expecting a baby. I saw her today and commented on how she's just popped right out! I mentioned to Miranda that this mum had a baby growing inside, as this is a subject Miranda's been interested in.
Miranda didn't show too much interest in that, just acknowledged and wanted to get on to kinder (it's the first day back, she was so happy!). She was more interested in the family friend who was heavily pregnant, and she's been interested in the photographs of when I was pregnant and her own birth.
Anyway, some time later, the kids were watching The Lion King and at the beginning the little lion is born. Miranda said, "It's a little baby lion," and I confirmed that. Then she said, "We don't have a baby," which I also confirmed. She then announced, "But you have babies inside you!"
I assured her that I didn't. She then added, "But you're fat!" (This, of course, made me laugh right out loud.)
Try explaining to a four year old that yes, I am fat, but it's not because we're going to get a baby...
School holidays
It's been school holidays for the past couple of weeks and I've had my hands full keeping the little girls occupied. I think we're all looking forward to school starting again on Monday!
Miranda's doing well. She's reading quite a lot now, and talking sometimes constantly, and certainly in complete sentences.
Her latest interest is perfume, which I sell on eBay (and have a lot of for my own use, heh). She gets very excited when a new shipment comes, and always wants to know if it's "to sell" or "to keep" and if it's to keep she wants to wear it. She knows several perfumes by name, and recognizes the bottles, which we noticed yesterday when we went to the shops.
Her favorite "peefeeume" is Sunflowers (which she'll tell anyone who asks), but she also likes Spiced Green Tea (Elizabeth Arden, same as Sunflowers) and she sometimes asks to wear Tresór, which is my own favorite (and quite expensive; the kid has worn some of the world's most expensive perfumes!). When we go to the shops if she sees perfume bottles out to test, she always wants to stop and smell, too.
Lately, she's also been asking to have powder (as in makeup) on her face and to wear lip gloss. She's always liked having nail polish put on.
A very girly girl, indeed!
