Conversation

Mama: You stink.

Miranda: I stinky.

Mama: Do you have poo?

Miranda: Poo. Yeah.

Mama: Do you want clean pants?

Miranda: I stink. Poo. Keen pants.

Reading

Miranda can read. Well, more or less. She's got around fifty words or so that she can recognize on sight. She's very, very good at this whole concept of words and reading and such.

Yes, I'm kind of shocked, to say the least. I'm not surprised that she's smart, but I'm surprised at how exceptionally good at language she seems to be. Wow.

Milk

Miranda hasn't had a breastfeed in days. I haven't been pushing it, but when I noticed she was naturally tapering off of her usual bedtime feeds, I encouraged that. I just tell her to get her thumb (which she only sucks when she's going to sleep) and do the rest of the bedtime routine (cuddles, being covered up, etc.).

She has protested this on a couple of occasions, but she then goes on to just suck her thumb and have the cuddle.

I always heard that kids would eventually wean themselves, but had never personally experienced it. With just a little bit of encouragement (or, I suppose, discouragement), Miranda seems to be doing just that.

Now if she'll just toilet train herself, we'll be in business!
