Pie

For dinner tonight, which we had with the girls' great-grandfather, we had that most Australian of dishes, a meat pie (beef, as a matter of fact). Miranda was a little wary of it at first, but she ate some of the pastry and tasted the meat and sauce that way. Eventually, with Grandad's help, Miranda managed to eat a whole small slice of pie.

Afterward, we had apple and blueberry pie for dessert. We didn't give any to Miranda, but we did to Zoë, who, of course, wouldn't eat it (she's incredibly, almost unbelievably fussy). Miranda was happy to take over sister's dish, though, and she ended up eating about half the small slice by herself, with a spoon

Yes, she made a huge mess. When I next upload pictures to the gallery, I'll upload one or two of her with her spoon and her bowl of blueberry pie...

Happy Birthday

Today is Miranda's birthday!

Up the nose

Saturday, Miranda managed to get hold of something (we think it was baby wipes, but it may have been tissues) and make several little wads, which she then shoved up her nostril. She was walking around sneezing, which I thought was odd, and then we saw the blocked nostril.

We actually had to hold her down and remove the blockage with tweezers, which was nerve-wracking for us and upsetting to the toddler.

Today, there were a couple more wads in her nose. I didn't see her putting them in, and I'm wondering if maybe she really did put that much in her nostril that it's sill being expelled. She did have quite a lot shoved up there.

For the moment, it seems her nostril is unblocked. Let's hope it stays that way.

Running

Miranda is almost running. She takes these big steps when she walks away (we call it "escaping" or "running away" because she likes to scoot off as quickly as she can and laugh at us when we chase her), and I can see she's just on the verge of starting to run.

And oh, how we're looking forward to that development... *sigh*
