Favorite song
Well, Miranda has a new favorite song. It's on the Playschool video the girls got for Christmas last year (Hi, Sharon!). I don't know why Miranda's only just now taken a real interest in it, but she just loves it.
It's a song about how frogs go "La-di-dah-di-dah". It's just a silly little ditty, but it's fun and she just LOVES it. When it comes on the video she gets so excited, it's just so cute. She makes little "happy" noises (she can't quite manage singing) and shakes a bit and bounces...
So, hmm, I may have to change the design of her website now. This one (with the ducks) is based on her previous favorite song (the one about five little ducks going off and getting lost but coming back at the end).
Uncles are scary
Auntie Robyn and Uncle Greg were over this weekend, along with Auntie Robyn's mum, Jean, who certainly passes for a grandmother (because she is one).
Miranda was reserved at first, but eventually started playing with Auntie Robyn. They were playing one of Miranda's favorite games, which is to take an object and pass it back and forth, saying, "Thank you" each time (well, Miranda enjoys it, what can I say?).
They played for quite some time, and then Uncle Greg (who had been outside with Grandad), came in. Miranda was, at that moment, lying on the floor, having a bit of a wiggle. Uncle Greg, who is over six feet tall and was wearing boots with heels, came in, carefully stepped over her, and sat down.
From the floor, he must have looked absolutely huge. Miranda was quite apprehensive of him, even when he was sitting down. Auntie Robyn tried to get him in on the game of "thank you" but Miranda was having none of it. She never did warm up to him, although she did climb on Grandad's lap and on Jean's lap, and she rested her head on Auntie Robyn's lap when Uncle Greg was too scary to look at.
We did persuade her to tell him (and the other guests) "bye bye".
Uncles are scary.
Sibling Rivalry
Usually people think of the elder child showing signs of sibling rivalry, but Miranda's got it quite strongly sometimes. Yesterday, I was holding Zoë, who was crying, in my arms and rocking her for comfort. Miranda didn't like this one little bit, and tried to pull Zoë off my lap. It's not the first time Miranda's done that, either.
She also sometimes shows signs of jealousy when I pay too much attention to her father, as well...
