Bye bye!
Miranda said Bye bye today spontaneously. No one said it to her, but she saw the door and anticipated that we were leaving and just piped up with, "Bye bye!"
Toddler time
Miranda's becoming more of a toddler every day. She walks all over (she won't walk outside, but inside she's all over the place) and rarely crawls at all now. She snoops around eveywhere and takes great pleasure in pulling things down (her most recent act was finding the dryer door slightly open and opening it fully so she could reach inside and throw the clothes on the floor, one piece at a time). She has turned of my computer while I was working twice now (I expect at least a couple more times until she learns that this is a sure way to get yelled at, especially if Mama has unsaved files that get lost). She's eating all sorts of things, from pizza to Chinese food (mostly the vegetables) to trying to feed herself with a spoon.
Her latest favorite activity is to color on the little table Zoë uses for puzzles and coloring and such. Zoë colors in a coloring book, but Miranda finds it much more enjoyable to scribble on the tabletop. Thankfully, the crayons are washable and it's just a play table, but I don't suppose it'll be very long before she finds out she can scribble on other things, as well...
Milestone!
Today Miranda reached a toddler milestone. At least, it is in our household...
She came over while I was working on the computer and she turned it off, causing me to lose all my unsaved work and cry out in dismay, thus upsetting both of us.
I don't know how many times this will have to happen before she learns not to do it. It took Zoë ages to work it out. Miranda does seem a little more keen on things like that. She's stubborn, but she's pretty smart.
Just going as usual
Tonight Miranda was playing with her sister on the floor, and she had to have whatever Zoë had. This is the usual way of it. Whatever Zoë has, Miranda has to have, from food to toys to just about anything. Miranda was particularly interested in the little Lego man (which Zoë got out of an uncle's Lego kit) with the hat that comes off and on. Miranda knew the hat did that, but she didn't have the dexterity to do it herself. She fiddled with it for quite some time before giving up and just toddling around with the hat in one hand and the little man in the other.
One thing I have noticed about Miranda is that she's quite a keen observer. She watches Zoë and then does what Zo&eum; did, or tries to, anyway. Her latest was eating yogurt with a spoon all by herself. Big sister had a tub of yogurt, took two bites, decided she didn't want the rest, and gave the yogurt and spoon to the baby sister, who happened to be in the high chair. Miranda gave it a go, too, and actually ended up getting more in her mouth than on herself, but only by a small margin. Still, she had the idea and the motion. A little more dexterity and she'll be doing very well, indeed.
