Mirandas do NOT like showers
It was beastly hot yesterday (much more pleasant today) and Miranda really doesn't like the heat. Late in the evening, I decided to take a shower and I brought the cranky hot baby with me. I put her in her bath seat in the corner of the shower stall and we had a shower.
Miranda was not amused. She didn't cry the entire time, but she really didn't enjoy it much. She felt a lot better afterward, of course, when she was no longer grubby and sweaty and she was a lot cooler, but the actual shower experience wasn't amusing.
Then again, Zoë used to hate the shower, too, but now she'll trot right in with any adult who looks like they're about to get into the shower, so I think it's probably just a matter of getting Miranda used to the idea.
Crawling and Eating
Miranda's got this crawl thing down pretty well now. She still doesn't crawl the way you expect a baby to do, but she scoots absolutely everywhere she can get, and resents it when we try to rein her in.
She's also still eating just about anything we give her. Tonight she had stuffing from our turkey roast (which we had cold in a salad), some breaded vegetable fingers, a couple of raw mushrooms from the green salad, a bit of bread, and a bite of lettuce.
Happy Birthday to Miranda!
Well, she's a year old today. She crawls (sort of; it's really a kind of half creep, have scoot kind of motion), she's got five teeth, she makes babbling babytalk noises, she's drinking from a cup and feeding herself finger foods, she can blow raspberries on demand, and she can pull herself upt to a standing position if she's got the right kind of support (a chair, for example).
She's also wonderfully adorable, but that goes without saying (which is why I just said it).
And for her birthday dinner, she had a sausage that was cooked out on the barbeque (her first one!) and not one but two pieces of cream-filled sponge cake. Yum.
And Another Tooth
We noticed Saturday that Miranda had another tooth through, on the top right. Her first birthday is in two days, and we're wondering just how many teeth she'll have by then, especially since she went very nearly a year without any at all...
Another tooth
Sometime late yesterday or last night, Miranda's fourth incisor came through. Today, she grabbed my finger and bit it (not hard, though) to demonstrate to me that she had teeth, or maybe she was just testing them out.
It's kinda funny that she waited until she was nearly a year old to get any teeth at all, and then got four in one day.
