Potatoes & Cheese
Miranda's definitely starting to eat what we eat, despite her toothless state. Last night we had a potatoes and cheese dish that I make in the slow cooker, which has a sauce made of tinned mushroom soup, a bit of butter, and prepared mustard, as well has having onion and chopped smoked sausage. It's a pretty spicy dish, and a very rich one.
Well, she couldn't have the sausage bits because of her lack of teeth, but she certainly enjoyed eating the potatoes in the spicy, cheesy sauce!
Of course, we'll just see what happens when she hits toddler age. Zoë used to eat most things we offered her, too, but then turned into the world's pickiest eater. Maybe Miranda won't turn up her nose at everything (but I don't have much hope of that). For now, though, she's a wonderful little eater and it's so much fun to share food with her.
Still no teeth...
She's pushing right on toward ten months, and still no teeth (although she does have occasional bouts of what looks very like teething pain). That doesn't stop her from eating just about anything she can get her hands on though. Her latest taste sensation was green peas (which she likes when she can roll them around on her tray and put them into her own mouth; she hated mashed peas babyfood, though), and she's been slowly working on eating chicken fingers, as well. In fact, as I type this, she'd busy chewing on an apricot fruit finger as she watches Shrek for the million-zillionth time...
Splash!
Tonight in the bath, Miranda learned how to splash the water. She kept smacking the water with her hands and absolutely squealing, she was so excited.
Lentils & Rice
Miranda just had dinner with us, and she ate what we were having, Lentil & Rice Pilaf (although we made sure she didn't get any bits of polish sausage, which she'd be unable to chew).

The Wiggles
Miranda loves The Wiggles as much as Zoë does, or maybe more. I put on the tape and Miranda's mesmerized for the entire tape, occasionally laughing and wiggling excitedly.
Pretty amazing for a nine-month-old baby, I think, but then, Zoë would watch an entire Disney animated feature from the age of about seven months, provided it had enough music in it. The Wiggles are colorful and full of music, so I'm not too surprised that it'll hold Miranda's (and Zoë's) interest.
Feed me!
Miranda's getting into the whole food thing, and she seems to really like feeding herself. She eats fruit fingers, Farex baby biscuits, the occasional cracker, and last night she ate a fair number of chips (french fries, not snack chips).
When we went out to get groceries yesterday evening, Zoë got a lollipop at the end of the trip and was eating it as we put her in the car. Miranda saw and could probably smell the sweet and was very obviously upset that Zoë had something that Miranda didn't! Luckily, I had some light cookies in the car (I keep them there for various sensible reasons) and I gave one to Miranda and she settled right down.
So basically, if Zoë has something to eat, Miranda has to, as well. And vice versa.

But she's got one!
Miranda has made that great leap of logic that is, "But my sister has one, so I need one, too!"
I gave Zoë a fruit finger and Miranda witnessed this and started to yell while staring at Zoë's food. As soon as I gave Miranda a fruit finger of her own, she settled right down to eat it.
What's good for the big sister is good for the little one...
